Oil & Gas Industry

The Petroleum (Oil & Gas) Industry is defined by the global processes of exploration, extraction, refining, transporting and marketing of petroleum products.  Collected Natural Gas is compressed via turbines, motor or engines and transported along a pipeline network.  Gas compressor or transfer stations require an acoustical enclosure (metal building) with a ventilation system for control of high internal heat and excessive noise generation.

Compressor building ventilation is addressed along with surrounding structures, including meter buildings, auxiliary buildings, office/warehouse buildings, air compressor buildings, and generator buildings.  Ventilation and noise control is the primary focus in this part of the industry, but in many cases, explosive gas or asphyxiation protection is a part of the ventilation system. Explosion rated controls and gas sensors along with fans and motors need to be rated accordingly, typically Class 1, Div. 1.
