Industrial fan or blower outlet silencers are part of a discharge fan system and are designed to address noise emitting from the fan outlet. Transitions, dampers, and screens may be included as part of the complete discharge system. Silencer may be mounted on the fan or blower outlet or on an exhaust air duct or along a wall. Low-pressure loss through the silencer is the design goal and important to keep the fan horsepower requirement as low as possible with final silencer selection determined on airflow and sound levels required.
Fan outlet silencers are manufactured in many configurations and materials to meet attenuation requirements. Collected sound data along with available space envelope and required noise levels need to be firmly established before the silencer is successfully designed.
